Rural Contracting in South Canterbury

Shaun has spent most of his life working across South Canterbury. He's milked in dairy sheds, built and repaired them, installed and repaired pumping systems, and worked as an engineer on the Pareora downlands water supply. He's licensed to drive just about anything, from tractors to trucks to diggers and dozers. These days he's back doing what he enjoys most: practical, on-the-land work around rural South Canterbury.

What Shaun does

• Digger & earthworks: driveways, drainage, fence lines, site cuts, river clearance and ditch work.
• Farm water: platforms, tanks and troughs, leak finding, reticulation repairs and installs.
• On-farm services: farm sitting, crop spraying (conditions permitting), harvesting, tidy-ups and light demolition.
• Dairy shed & yard: milking relief at short notice, yard repairs, gate and rail fixes, shed water systems.

How he works, and why it's cheaper for you

Shaun runs solo by choice and keeps only a small amount of general equipment. That avoids the overhead of owning a large fleet that may sit unused between very different jobs.

Where suitable, Shaun can work with your farm equipment to keep costs down. When a job needs different or larger machinery, he arranges hire gear as required (15% on hire invoices, plus transport). This means the equipment can be matched to the work rather than making every customer pay toward unnecessary machinery overheads.

For bigger contracts, Shaun works alongside other local contractors he knows and trusts to get it done on time. So whether it's a quick job that doesn't need a full crew, or you need an extra pair of capable hands to pitch in on something bigger, Shaun fits the work, not the other way round.
