Earthworks project planner
Prepare useful information for a trench, drain, track, driveway, site cut, clean-up or other digger job.
Purpose and dimensions
What must the finished work achieve?
Approximate length / width / depth / area:
Required level, fall, outlet or finished surface:
Material
- Material can remain and be spread on site
- Material needs stockpiling
- Material needs cartage or disposal
- New aggregate, fill, pipe or other material is needed
Machine access
- Measure narrowest gate or access point
- Note bridges, culverts and load restrictions
- Photograph slopes, soft ground and turning areas
- Note overhead lines, trees, buildings and fences
Site constraints
- Underground services identified before excavation
- Waterways, drains and erosion risks considered
- Required council, neighbour or owner permissions checked
- Stock and public access can be controlled
- Weather and ground conditions suitable
Why there is no instant price calculator: machine size, travel, transport, access, ground, buried services, disposal, material, hire gear, weather and reinstatement can materially change a job. A calculated total without those facts could mislead. Measurements supplied here support an estimate, not a guaranteed price.
Do not excavate near unidentified services or unstable ground. Culverts, waterways and drainage outlets may also need specific design or approval; this planner does not size or approve them.
